COLUMBUS, OHIO (September 2, 2010) – On Thursday September 2nd the phrase “today is the day” will be interpreted by the majority of Ohioans as the day that has been anxiously awaited for the past 8 months: the return of Buckeye football. To others though, the phrase “today is the day” can infer more significant events, such as new research, treatments, and hope for a cure to cancer.  Hopkins Printing staffers are supporting both groups on September 2nd through a special dress down day.

The casual dress day is to benefit the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk which is backed by the American Cancer Society. After 2 straight decades of increasing diagnoses of the disease, death rates have seen a decline and female breast cancer incidence rates have reduced dramatically. These decreases are credited to earlier detection and improved treatments prompted by events and fundraisers generating financial and educational support.

Members of Hopkins Printing’s staff who are both participants in the annual Making Strides walk and Buckeye devotees, saw an opportunity to bring these two passions together. Employees were given the option to dress down Thursday for $5.00 with all proceeds benefitting Making Strides.

Many employees saw the casual dress day as a chance to support the Buckeyes while making a difference. “The donations generated today will be a great addition to the Making Strides funds we will raise on the walk next month. It’s a win-win for everyone at Hopkins. We are banding together to support Breast Cancer awareness and we get to show our spirit for the Bucks” said digital prepress team member Linda Davis.
